Ride the Tanana Valley Railroad on a two hour trip through
Alaska's gold mining history. Enjoy a walking tour, lessons in gold
panning, chat with local miners and try a hand at panning for gold
yourself! You may have to dodge a tour bus or two, but it is a fun

Fox Lions Community Clubhouse
Located on the Steese Highway immediately past the weigh
station in downtown Fox. The third Wednesday of
every month, we meet at 6:30 p.m. Stop in and meet some
locals, share Lions Club Stories or purchase one of their
Community cookbooks or Lions Club pins. Patty was on the
Cookbook committee, writing the history of Fox and designed
the Lions Club pin. You will be glad you stopped in! We
are a fun bunch of friends and people!

While visiting Alaska take a tour of the regions
most notorious gold mine, Gold Dredge No. 8. Here you will have the
chance to tour the inside of the dredge and take in the true size of
this historic site. They offer a short video with actual footage of
the working dredge for guests to see how the process of thawing, stripping
and dredging was performed. Afterward, take a “poke” at
panning for gold yourself and feel like a true prospector.
